This Hispanic Heritage Month is a proud reminder of our roots, our strength, and the future we’re building together. It’s a time to celebrate who we are, where we come from, and everything we continue to create as a united people.
Together, we’ve grown stronger by caring for each other and our community. That’s how we keep moving forward: by staying involved, helping good causes, and supporting the groups already making a difference in our neighborhoods. Being active in our community—whether by volunteering, mentoring, or helping a neighbor—makes us all stronger.
This month, let’s celebrate with purpose. Let’s honor our traditions and take action. Support local nonprofits. Get involved. Talk to your family and friends about the importance of being active in our communities. That includes making sure we are registered to vote and showing up in both primary and general elections. Our voices matter, and our votes help shape the future we want to see.
We came to this country to grow, raise our families, and give back. Our cultures—whether from Mexico, Puerto Rico, El Salvador, Colombia, Cuba, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic, or beyond—are full of pride, strength, and joy.
We value family. We keep going no matter what. We care for our neighbors. We bring joy, flavor, and heart to everything we do. We’ve given so much for generations, and we still have more to offer.
Let this month remind us of our history, our traditions, and the power we have when we support one another and move forward together.
Con orgullo y esperanza,
Councilwoman Olivia Diaz
